TechConnect: Sustainability – what does that mean?

What does sustainability really mean? And what does that mean for technology when our desire for data is at odds with the environment? Can high growth be sustainable?

Join TechConnect, iCAST and tech founders on Thursday 28 November for an informal evening of discussion around sustainability in the creative, digital and tech spaces.

Whether you are working in tech, running your own business, or contemplating starting a business, this is the perfect place to meet other like-minded individuals in the Swindon & Wiltshire area. You may simply be intrigued by what people are working on in local creative, digital and tech spaces.

Meet great people over a drink and a slice of pizza or two. This is not a networking event – come along to share ideas, not business cards!

Sustainability | United Nations

Sustainability is a social goal that involves using resources in a way that allows people to coexist on Earth for a long time. It’s about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Sustainability has three dimensions: environmental, economic, and social. It’s important for protecting the environment, as many environmental problems, such as air pollution and overfishing, come from unsustainable use of natural resources.

Sustainability is sometimes called “future viability” or “intergenerational equity” because it’s about being mindful of future generations. It’s also about actively considering the environment, economy, and society, and making an effort to balance them.
